The company, founded in 1992, is owned by Ann O’Rourke, MAI, SRA (dba), a practicing appraiser, and is a sole proprietorship.

Company history

  • 1992 - started publishing a monthly subscription newsletter, Appraisal Today
  • 1994 - started sending out weekly email newsletter
  • 1995 - started offering continuing education for appraisers primarily in Northern California
  • 2001 - first national conference, AppraisalTech 2001

Primary products:

  • Weekly email newsletter, in publication since June, 1994
  • Appraisal Today, a monthly print newsletter, in publication since June, 1992
  • Seminars and conferences
  • Additional products include books and audiotapes
  • Printed products and audiotapes are provided to real estate appraisers and focus on business management, computers and Internet, and news of use to appraisers such as USPAP changes.

Experience as education provider

  • First offering in 1995/96 - 3 hour Marketing for appraisers seminar - Various Western states, sponsored by the Appraisal Institute
  • From 1995 to 1999, almost all seminars were taught by Ann O’Rourke. Over 50 all day seminars were offered
  • The most recent offerings were 18, one and two day, seminars in 2000, taught by qualified instructors hired by Ann O’Rourke, who was the administrator for the seminar offerings
  • Seminars offered in 2000:
    • USPAP for the Practicing Appraiser - 7 hours credit
    • Title and escrow for Appraisers - 7 hours credit
    • Residential Appraisal Problem Solving - 14 hours credit
    • Computers for Appraisers - 7 hours credit
    • The Internet for Appraisers - 7 hours credit
    • California Architectural Styles for Appraisers - 7 hours credit
    • Profitable Appraising, How to Maximize Profits in Your Appraisal Business - 7 hours credit
    • Income Opportunities for Residential Appraisers - 7 hours credit
