Dave Biggers
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Dave Biggers is the founder and CEO of a la mode, the
largest valuation software company in North America. He oversees all
aspects of the company's development, launch and marketing of new products
and initiatives, strategic alliances and partnerships, and growth and
market share acquisition in traditional and new customer areas.
Dave, whose father was in the U.S. Army, was born in
Germany. He moved to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma when he was 11, and went on to
study engineering at the University of Oklahoma. He worked for his father,
an appraiser, during the summer months and during breaks. In 1984, with
the help of some fellow engineering friends, he began to work on computer
programs for the family business.
Originally intending to write software solely for his
father's appraisal business, in 1985 Dave incorporated the company, moving
himself and it to Salt Lake City with two partners. Eventually, he moved
back to Oklahoma, and bought his partners out of the company. Dave's first
software for the family business was a progenitor of a la mode's WinTOTAL
suite, which is now used by more than half the appraisers in America.
As part of his vision to bring the appraisal profession
into the Internet age, Biggers oversaw the development of its first
large-scale EDI server in 1997. With the rollout of an EDI front end for
WinTOTAL, a la mode's work - and name - began to appear in front of
appraisers' lender clients. In 2002, the company began to capitalize on
that new exposure with the launch of its Mercury Network.
Biggers' goal is to continue the company's transition
from a software company to a broader service provider, while remaining
true to its traditional appraiser customer base. His strategy for market
share acquisition in the lender, home inspector and real estate agent
markets was visible in 2003 with the continued growth of the Mercury
Network and debut of Inspector XSites and Agent XSites, drawing on
efficiencies already tested and developed for appraisers.
