Excerpt:

1. Noise, noise, noise. Double street and sidewalk frontage means double the noise from pedestrian and car traffic. Pull up a chair and crack open a cold one; I’m just gettin’ started.

2. Unconventional configurations. For example, the front yard of a home on a corner lot is usually bigger than the back, and the garage may be located around the corner.

My comment: I have always wondered why there was a checkbox on the 1004 for corner lot… a mystery to me;> Maybe it was a factor in the 1960s/1970s, when the first forms were developed and used. Maybe it has been taken off some of the forms…

  1. I prefer side facing garages. The three car garage in front of houses these days are appear uncouth to me

  2. I have lived two homes on corner lots and two homes in the center. Not only is it one less neighbor but its also one less pig sty. Lets face it! No one is ever as neat as you. If they are you are blessed. If its only one side your lucky you don’t have two. This is a negative adjustment to your property. Plus I have two street lights. I don’t have to pay for additional security. I like this.

  4. Hogwash. Most of those reasons can be overcome with opposite “good” reasons. Cutting grass and shoveling snow ? Are you that lazy ?. Maybe you need the exercise. Dog waste, there are ordinances about it, and you can take photos of those people and they get a “fine”. And so on. The biggest pluses I know, are more sunlight, more air flow, and the #1 best reason, one less neighbor to deal with, who could be really miserable. I have had a miserable nasty neighbor in the past. I know.

    • I love the idea of fewer neighbors ;>

    • I agree Ron. I worked for an appraiser in Florida and the corner lot was always an adjustment to your advantage. A bigger lot and more private lot. I have a privacy fence and notice no additional traffic. I guess if I lived out in the middle of a busy street I may but mine is all residential. I actually have more people to talk to when they walk. I get both directions. I love this.
